Getting Started

Fizzik Support May 05, 2010

When you first run Fizzik, all you see is a blank screen and it might not be immediately obvious what to do.  Here are some simple steps that you can take to perform common actions (Note that these instructions are for video but the same principal holds for other media as well):

Searching for Video: Here’s how you can search for a video and watch it.

  1. Click on the magnifying glass on the upper left hand corner.
  2. Click the down arrow to the left side of the text box and select the YouTube icon.
  3. Enter a search phrase of videos you want to search for in the text box. I.e. Enter ‘cat’.
  4. Hit enter or click on the magnifying glass.
  5. You will see the results of the search displayed on the left hand column.  Click on the result you wish to see and the video will play in the main window.

Saving your Video Search: You can save and re-run the search anytime through a single click.

  1. After you’ve searched for something, click on the ‘+’ sign to the right of the search phrase text box.
  2. You will see a text box appear immediately below it.  Type a name for your search.  I.e. Enter ‘cat videos’.
  3. Click the ‘Save’ button.
  4. You will notice that a new icon has appeared at the bottom of the search result column.  To re-run the search again, simply click on this icon.

Sharing the Video: You can easily share the video you just saw via social media such as Twitter.

  1. (Pre-requisite): You do need a working Twitter account for this.
  2. Click on the ‘+’ sign on the lower right hand side of the screen.
  3. Select the ‘t’ icon in familiar light blue (for Twitter).
  4. First time you do this, you will need to add your Twitter Account.  Click on the ‘add account’ button.
  5. Click ‘Create Account’.
  6. Enter your Account Name (User Name) and password and hit ‘Create’ button.
  7. Click ‘Finish’.
  8. Now you should see your Twitter name show up.
  9. Review the message and hit ‘Tweet’ button and you’re all set.  Steps 4-7 only need to be performed once.
